The Ruppertsberger Hoheburg Riesling trocken (GG) from the Villa Wolf winery is a terroir-driven Riesling from the historically significant Hoheburg vineyard, which was classified as a Grosses Lage (Grand Cru) as early as the 19th century. The Hoheburg's slopes are characterized by weathered red sandstone and well-drained soils, which impart a delicate minerality, crisp freshness, and elegant structure to the wine. Thanks to the comparatively cooler microclimate of this vineyard, the wine develops a vibrant acidity and a refined, precise expression, showcasing classic Palatinate Riesling characteristics – fresh, dry, and with a clear fruit profile.

in the Central Mosel

In Germany and around the world – Ernst Loosen's wine projects beyond the Moselle.

Great wines, in Ernst Loosen’s view, are born wherever soil, climate, and grape variety form a distinctive unity. This conviction has led him far beyond the Mosel. In Germany’s Pfalz, he has revived the historic Villa Wolf estate, while in Puligny-Montrachet in Burgundy he has breathed new life into the venerable Maison Perron de Mypont. In Oregon, his projects Appassionata Estate and J. Christopher Wines produce Pinot Noirs of world-class quality.

Each of these ventures carries Ernst’s unmistakable signature: authenticity, precision, and an uncompromising commitment to capturing the character of a place in every bottle.
