Villa Wolf - In Wachenheim on the Wine Route

Our traditional winery, whose roots reach deep into the history of Palatinate winemaking, is located in Wachenheim in the northern Palatinate, on the edge of the Mittelhaardt.

When Ernst Loosen took over the winery in 1996, it already had a rich history spanning almost 250 years. But it was less this history than the prospect of producing great, dry wines that drew him to the Palatinate.

Villa Wolf offers ideal conditions for this. The renowned vineyards in Forst and Wachenheim produce wines of exceptional elegance and minerality.

Wine region

Nestled on the edge of the forest in the Mittelhaardt region, all Burgundy grape varieties thrive particularly well in the mild climate of the Rhine Valley (along with figs, almonds and sweet chestnuts).

But our vineyards also offer the best conditions for large, dry Rieslings. It was right here, in the Palatinate, that Pinot Gris was recognized as a grape variety in the 19th century and first cultivated independently.

The unique regional climate of the Middle Haardt, the mineral-rich soils of limestone, basalt and sandstone, as well as the great age of the vines are the building blocks for the terroir of our vineyards.Their importance for the production of outstanding wines was recognized long ago..
